About the game

This game was created for an intro to game engines class I took in spring of 2026. The intended theme behind this game was a delivery person who brings packages to locations. These packages would have special powers that the player can use to platform and get to the end. The game's development had stopped at creating a few powers, flushing out a good movement feel, the sounds and music, as well as putting in some free art assets. Since the class was over, no further development continued. Even though it does not get across the intended theme very well, I believe that this game has some fun mechanics to mess around with! I worked on this with one other partner, whose name I forgot... sorry.

What I worked on

I modified a free to use premade playercontroller, adding and restricting a few movement features here and there. I made many of the values public facing for the sake of fine-tuning the feel without having to go into the code each time. I also created the powerups and the effects it has on the player, this includes speeding the player up, making jump very high, low gravity, and keeping momentum. The art, sounds, and BGM was something that my partner and I found online free to use as well. I put together a part of the level design, but most of that was my partner. My partner worked on putting together the free assets and building the game to look how it does now!

My notes during development

Playercontroller is so much code to make it feel right. This was one of my first experiences with making a player controller more complicated than just basic movement with a jump key. Luckily, there was a lot of free open source code I could use and reference! I think I realized that I do not have to create everything from scratch, but modifying other people's code is also difficult.
